Killua Rewilding

The Killua demesne consisted of heavily degraded parkland as a result of many years of intensive farming and active deforestation. Since acquiring the land, one of the most important goals of the Montpascal Foundation has been the regeneration of the land. This has been done through a combination of regenerative farming and the creation of protected areas for environmental purposes.

With the assistance of Forest Environental Research and Services (FERS) under the supervision of ecologist Dr. Patrick Moran and his team, we have dedicated 100 acres to a rewilding project that has a goal reestablishing the parkland ecosystem. Our rewilding project is also home to a small number of animals of native species. These herbivores are critical to the development of a balanced ecosystem and have attracted a very wide variety of flora and fauna promoting biodiversity.
